Ancon Hill Walking Tour in the Sunrise & Panamannian Breakfast
This tour was amazing and Rafael was a great guide! Our tour started at about 5:30 am. I'm not a morning person, so at first I thought I was crazy for taking such an early morning trip, but it was worth it. There were four of us, including Rafael, and we took a leisurely walk up Ancon Hill, up a series of stairs, to the top. It was fine walking in the pre-dawn hours, but at one point when we had to climb the stairs, it was dark, but our guide came prepared with a flashlight to make the going easy.
Rafael was friendly and speaks great English, so he was able to answer a lot of our questions. Along the way, we learned the history of the area as well as learned about different types of trees - including a strangling tree and one that is over 500 years old.
I appreciate that we were able to go along at our own pace, stopping to take great pictures as we overlooked the city, including a very lovely sunrise. We saw vultures, hawks, toucans, iguti, and a sloth. At the top of the hill, we enjoyed refreshments - fresh fruit, orange juice, water.
After we descended the hill, we ate a traditional breakfast at a local restaurant, which was the perfect end to the trip, and because we started early, we still had the morning and rest of the day to do other things. Thanks for such a lovely time, Rafael. Hopefully I'll be back one day soon!
